GM Lputian vistits LA Chess Club

Grandmaster Smbat Lputian is a world class chess player. Playing on the fourth board for team Armenia, he took home the gold medal in the 2006 Chess Olympiad held in Turin, Italy. Here GM Lputian is playing a simul against local players at the Los Angles Chess Club.

Meeting Days

Saturday Morning - Beginner/ Novice Class *(10:30 am-11:30 am)This weekly class covers all the basic knowledge needed to conduct a game; such as: Piece movements, Notation, Terms, Symbols, etc. Basic Opening, Middle game, Endgame principles & Basic tactical patterns, etc.

Saturday Afternoon - Swiss Tournament(12:30 pm-4:30 pm)This is a weekly USCF-rated tournament exclusively for USCF members (LACC membership is optional)Registration: 11:30 am - 12:30 pm4 Rounds of Game/30Entry Fee: $15 for LACC members; $20 othersPrizes: Cash, Chess Books, Sets

Tuesday - Advanced Lecture *(7:30 pm - 9:30 pm) - This weekly class discusses one topic each month in great depth (e.g. February Hyper Modern Openings or March Tactics) * LACC Membership required
